Service Description

Awareness and Regulation Coaching (ARC) is a series of online courses designed to help you understand your ADHD and develop strategies to manage it better. Each course runs for 6 weeks, for two hours online a week, and builds skills to help you overcome the overwhelm of life with ADHD. ARC has been designed and developed by Dr Judith Mohring, consultant psychiatrist, coach, therapist and educator. Judith is an expert trainer in adult ADHD and also lives with ADHD. Adults in paid work in England, Wales and Scotland may receive some or all of the cost of ARC funded through an Access to Work Grant. For more information, please visit: https://www.gov.uk/access-to-work Session one: ADHD is tidal Introduction to the group and how to show up, share and support each other ADHD energy is tidal: How ADHD causes shifts in energy, focus, attention and drive, and how learning to raise awareness of our “tides” is vital. Session two: The Pez and the Pinata ADHD tides affect motivation and reward: sharing and exploring how reward focus can lead to distraction or hyperfocus. Exploring the two sides of the ADHD coin: strengths and struggles. Session three: The Puppy and the Path Understanding the Default Mode Network (DMN), what it does and what it needs. The DMN is a vital part of our brain, curious, playful, reflective. But if we don’t look after it well, just like a puppy, it strays from the path. Session four: Returning to the path of Executive Function What is executive function, why is it important to ADHD and how do we improve it? Session Five: emotion, overwhelm and the “switch” Why does ADHD come with strong emotions, and how can we be kind to ourselves and manage these better day to day? Session six: Bringing it all together and using ADHD Strengths Reviewing the progress we’ve made and the learnings we’ve shared. Returning to our ADHD strengths along with ADHD struggles and celebrating the journey we’ve made together.
