Careers in ADHD
A free 90-minute session for past ADHDEd participants
Service Description
Career choice is one of the most important, and often most overlooked, areas when it comes to adult ADHD. As Ned Hallowell writes in Delivered from Distraction, two of the biggest predictors of success are the right job and the right partner. We’ll leave the couples counselling aside, but the career piece is something we can actually do something with. This 90-minute session is designed for those who have already attended ARC or Mindful ADHD, and want to think more practically about how their understanding of ADHD translates into working life. We’ll explore how your ADHD shows up in your career: not just in terms of challenges, but in terms of energy, interest and strengths. In this session, we’ll cover: How the NUTS model (noradrenaline and stress) influences motivation, focus, and job satisfaction Why some roles and environments feel much harder than others , and what to look for instead Using tools from ARC, including the Executive Function Questionnaire (ARC 3), to guide career thinking A structured way of identifying your strengths (including the VIA strengths framework) Practical books, tools and communities to support your next steps
