Service Description
Mindfulness has overwhelming evidence to support an improvement ADHD symptoms. However, actually doing it is a challenge for most ADHDers. In this expert-led course, Simon Barnes teaches easy to deploy mindfulness strategies which you can use in your clinic with your ADHD clients. Mindful ADHD is a structured professional training programme designed for clinicians who work with adults with ADHD and want to confidently integrate practical, evidence-based mindfulness techniques into their clinical practice. This 8-week online course equips practitioners with concrete tools to help ADHD clients reduce overwhelm and reactivity through grounding their attention in the present. In a small group (of up to twelve), we meet weekly for two hours online, combining psychoeducation, experiential practice, clinical application, and reflection. The course emphasises how to teach and adapt mindfulness practices specifically for ADHD presentations, including attentional variability, emotional dysregulation, impulsivity, and shame-based self-criticism. Mindful ADHD has been designed and developed by Simon Barnes, an experienced mindfulness practitioner, in collaboration with Dr Judith Mohring. It focuses on translating mindfulness theory into practical, teachable interventions that clinicians can immediately apply with ADHD clients. The curriculum is adapted from Dr Lidia Zylowska’s The Mindfulness Prescription for Adult ADHD and has been clinically refined for real-world therapeutic contexts. Clinicians will learn how to introduce mindfulness in ways that are accessible, flexible and ADHD-informed - supporting clients to respond skillfully rather than react automatically to internal and external stressors. Attendees will gain: practical mindfulness techniques specifically adapted for ADHD nervous systems; strategies to support clients with distractibility, emotional volatility, and overwhelm; tools to foster self-regulation and self-compassion and a space for clinical reflection and discussion. The course is suitable for clinicians working in therapy, coaching, psychiatry, psychology, occupational therapy and related professional roles, as well as practitioners supporting adults with ADHD in applied or organisational settings. No prior mindfulness training is required. Mindful ADHD is experiential, clinically grounded and highly practical - offering clinicians a clear and confident pathway for using mindfulness as an effective therapeutic intervention for adults
