Service Description

This advanced course provides clinicians with a practical framework for understanding and working therapeutically with ADHD. Developed by consultant psychiatrist Dr Judith Mohring, it integrates current neuroscience with clinical experience, coaching approaches and therapeutic models to help you support meaningful, lasting change in your ADHD clients. This course is designed for psychiatrists, psychologists, psychotherapists, mental health clinicians and ADHD coaches who have experience diagnosing or working with ADHD and want to deepen their ability to support their clients. It provides a clear map of the ADHD landscape, helping you understand what is happening in your clients’ brains and how to translate that understanding into practical, effective interventions. ADHD is increasingly common in clinical practice, yet many clinicians feel they lack an integrated framework for working with it. Clients often present feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, frustrated and discouraged by repeated attempts to change. Therapy can feel slow or unfocused when difficulties with motivation, attention, emotional regulation and executive function are not fully understood. This course bridges the gap between diagnosis and effective therapeutic intervention. The course explores the neurobiology of ADHD, including the roles of dopamine and noradrenaline in attention, motivation, stress, hyperfocus and burnout. It introduces the Triple Network Model, which explains how interactions between key brain networks influence attention, emotional regulation and executive function. Participants learn how to apply this model in clinical work to help clients develop greater awareness, regulation and behavioural control. The course also provides practical executive function coaching tools and therapeutic strategies to help clients improve focus, motivation, emotional regulation and response inhibition. Complex neuroscience is explained through clear, vivid metaphors that clinicians can use directly with clients to improve understanding and engagement. This course integrates insights from psychiatry, neuroscience, cognitive analytic therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy, coaching psychology and mindfulness-based approaches, providing a uniquely ADHD-informed clinical framework. By the end of the course, participants will have a deeper understanding of ADHD neuroscience, greater confidence working therapeutically with ADHD clients and practical tools to provide meaningful support.
